In my job, we are building a site. We are using next js. There is a cms where most of the comes from. There are special contents where html content is comming from the cms. We need it some click event on specific class.
I can tell you that, does college who learn angolar or react. They had a really rough time with this task, they were missing the onlick, attribute... They could think outside of typical react . I said its an easy task, i did lot of vanilla js.
Yes you dont need deep fundamentals... But be sure you will remain avarage or below... When it comes to real project in companies... You will need it. In projects you have use tricky way, due to expectations.

Well, if you want to be a good programmer yes, you have to understand the core concepts of Javascript, if you learn the basics of the language and jump to a framework right afterward, you will struggle a lot, that happened to me 2 years ago, I was learning Javascript and I learned a few basic things and jumped to react js right away, I struggled so much to code basic things, so I had to learn Javascript from the beginning and it’s way better, if you are starting to learn how to code I recommend you to learn the programming language itself and jump to a framework after you are comfortable with the programming language you are learning
