There is zero reason to ever carry a double edged knife.
I limits what you can do with it, while reducing cutting performance and providing very very little tangible benefit

The blade is still getting whacked on both edges. You're effectively hammering the tip into a tree stump.
Great job preventing damage to the free mallet, though.

If that's the only knife you have, you have to make due with it I guess. Or you can just get a $15 Morakniv Companion which will do all the camp stuff you need.
