The government has a role in your life such as protecting you from crime. However, they have NO role in matters of conscience between you and God. Whenever the civil government is involved in God's work, it only corrupts the church. Whenever the church get's involved in government, it ends up in tyranny! The dark ages is a compelling example of this.
