Something that gets forgotten is the fact you used to be able to double up links. You could get Big Bad Bosses 2x on the middle unit. +50% to Atk and Def, plus any KI links doubled up. People were upset that this went away. The level system gives more stats, but links like BBB and Over in a Flash got shafted. In the end, it's a net bonus and much, much better the way it is now. However, when they 1st implemented this change, players were MAD that links no longer doubled up on the middle unit.
