Many men today, like the dry bones in this story and including me not too long ago, are suffering a type of death.
A slow death.
A slow, quiet, desperate, self-loathing, physical, emotional and spiritual death.
The dry ossified bones of complacency, idleness, purposeless and godlessness.
The graveyard of a broken spirit, fragmented identity, failed dreams, uninspired action and wasted God-given potential.
Yet sometimes a man has to lose himself to find everything again.
All he needed was someone who believed in him to speak life over him, to have God’s Word breathe new life into those dry bones.
To feel the depth of God’s love touch his heart, to feel His life flow through his blood like a torrent and His work flow out of him like a river.
There is nothing stronger than a broken man who rebuilt himself with help from the Lord.
There is nothing more inspiring than the man who then picks up the pieces and carries them for others so that they may be inspired to do the same.
