Heritage raspberries will grow a harvest twice. They also can be pruned back to the ground. Then there are biennial berries that fruit as you said, on last year's primocanes. These grow similarly to blackberries.

Will they then produce again next year, or are they done after producing in the fall?

This grows like weeds in Germany. It's annoying when the thorny branches grow across the walk way at neck hight. Removing them is also annoying since the thorns penetrate easily through gloves.

You don’t have to remove the second year canes, they do it on their own. But it’s likely better/safer for the plant if you do.

Do the same plants put out shoots every subsequent year or do you have to replant every other year?

You could be a teacher in the citys. We just have to be willing to look less to profit and more to what we can do. Building self-sufficient citys that hold no more than 1000 that build the land around it as a food forest. When villages are full we build a new city. people with in the city could farm worms to enrich the land. And forage the forest and hunt sell to the citys. We could build the city's to bring the land of deserts to forest of food. The city could be eath ship like homes build a water system that gives back as a gray water system and use a public Asian style bath house that could feed and temperature relate the top land at night. Giving the homes for free will help homelessness and those that wish to migrate. Using methods with natural materials and gravity instead of power ginrated water systems would open this to any country.
