This incredible specimen is one of few complete, three dimensional Ichthyosaur fossils ever found. This particular fossil was discovered in Eastern France and is exceptionally prepared. It is a part of the Granada Gallery collection. ā¤ļø
A few other facts about Ichthyosaurs:
ā¢Ranged in size from 2-85 feet long
ā¢Very successful in survival, existed over 100 million years
ā¢Only 15 three dimensional specimens like this ever found, the rest are flattened
ā¢The name Ichthyosaur translates to āFish Lizardā in Greek
ā¢Some of the largest eyes ever recorded, up to 10ā across that helped them see in the deep, dark ocean
ā¢They breathed air
ā¢Gave birth to live young, did not lay eggs
