My parents were just mean Jehovah's Witnesses. But didn't get presents or hugs or love either. That's where I learned compassion. Only through suffering and pain do you learn true compassion and empathy for others.... That's why some people are so cold. They've never been through anything...

My supposedly dad did this to me on Christmas. He was a drug addicted that own his own construction company. He did houses he called my mom and told her he had a new bike for me the racetrack toy that went up the wall and glowed and some clothes. Christmas morning came he never showed up until Easter with a chocolate bunny and basket. I realized that day what addiction was as a child. He never explained to me about Christmas and I took that bunny and basket and threw it away. I told myself from that day I wouldn't ask him for nothing and I didn't. Karma is so real the same kid he left hanging was the same man that paid for his medication til he passed. I'm sure so many black males can relate to certain childhood memories.
