You can easily compare Taiwan per capita income growth since late 70s& 80s to half the near by neighbours Singapore, Korea, Hongkong, Macau, not to mention the larger & 1st of all the neighbours Japan, since late 60s onward, But Japans also the 1st now that's started the slow downward slide since last 6-7-8 yrs or so too.

Unlike Korea Japanese were little little little bit more Gentle to taiwanese and saw taiwan as legit extension of Japan
So they invested more on sustainable education & infrastructure
Which continued even after ww2
