Bicycle lanes are seen as an extension of the sidewalk and are used by pedestrians and others on scooters and wheelchair. agree, bike lanes feel very dangerous, riding right beside a car and some bike lanes cut into traffic lanes.

This is exactly what i have told my ex girlfriend lol but i wasnt exactly political of it. I just mentioned that a bicycle is NOT a motor vehicle. And they go way slower than cars! And in my opinion a MAJOR Major danger not only to the cyclists themselves but to drivers as well. My ex mentioned that "They have every right to the road too! To share it"
But I said "It doesnt make sense to put a a lane where the bicycle..goes ALOT less than motor vehicles! I always told her that one day a driver will accidentally drive into the lane and accidentally kill a cyclist. As a matter of fact I have seen videos of cars accidently going in those lanes and luckily the cyclists were NOT killed but definitely injured badly. So I dont get bicycle lanes myself, and deeply Dislike them.
In my opinion the city SHOULD create its OWN Bicycle ROAD. Where ONLY Bikes are allowed. That would REALLY make more people cycle I know I would! It definitely is a big project with giant expenses but hey! It would make people want to use those bicycles! Safely away from cars.
I have driven up mointains here in California specifically the Mt. Wilson roads. And I have seen SO many cyclists! And the roads are so narrow with only 2 lanes with a double solid line. And the cyclists took up a lot pf the road! Its a very dangerous situation!

Cycle lanes are just an excuse for not building propper seperated infrastructure. The street should be so low traffic, low speed, and safely designed so you can bike in the middel of it, and if not, the bike infrastructure skoud be physically seperated from cars.
After living with great infrastructure, I'll never move to a city with only infrastructure for cars.
