"How can this be the holy spirit"
Simple, the holy spirit only manifests in devout people of God, we see this as far as David's time ( 1 Samuel 16:13) the disciples where not devout followers of God (we see this when they don't even have enough faith in God to cast out a demon or heal the sick). Jesus left so the holy spirit would manifest in them and they would be forced to stop being so reliant on Jesus and actually have faith in God. The holy spirit guided them and throughout the book of acts it is made clear that the holy spirit is the SPIRIT jesus was talking about.
+ The comforter (a title of the holy spirit) was ment to help the disciples, Mohamed didn't exist for hundreds of years after their death. Mohamed was a person not a spirit, he certainly wasn't the spirit of truth either.

Zakir Naik was lying when he cut off the saying of Jesus Christ. The real text says:Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I WILL send him TO YOU.
John 16:7
So Jesus Christ will send the Paracletos. Muhammad was not sent by Jesus Christ, so the Paracletos is NOT Muhammad.
And Naik deliberately removed 'TO YOU', because this is about the disciples who HAD NOT RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT YET. So Naiks 'argument' the Holy Spirit was already there' fails totally. Naik is a fraud.
But Jesus Christ said to His disciples:
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."
John 14:26
So the Paracletos is a role of the Holy Spirit for the disciples.

For those who think Jesus isnt the son of God read philippians 2:5-7. Colossians 1:15. John 20:27-29. Mark 2: 5-7. And God said " behold this is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased". And John 14:6 shows he is the son of God the true messiah.

Is there or is there not compulsion in religion according to the Qur’an?
“Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things,” (2:256).

Holy spirit is supernatural. But it may and may not always work according to others will. It seems holy spirit was there already but it not changed disciples status bcoz of lack of faith. And so Jesus said" i will send him to you" . For the Holy spirit is ready to do anything instructed by Jesus.
