Canadian knife laws are insane. Gravity knives and automatics are illegal, but there are no laws on blade length. The Microtech is legal because it has alternate means of deployment (thumb studs). The Civivi buttonlock Elementum without a flipper or studs is illegal because the button lock is the only means of deployment placing it into the gravity knife category. Im jealous of both those knives. I love how unique the Reate Exo is.

Wanna start with I agree 100% that knife laws are, in fact, stupid.
That said, I kind of understand the logic(even if itself is a cowards logic)behind the OTF style knives.
I just wish more people would recognize that knives are protected under the 2nd.

Its more of the lack of space needed to open the gravity knife making it easier for if you wanted to not be caught before stabbing someone. Meanwhile your more like to witness someone opening the other one (usually at least)

So, I would be stupid enough to carry it around in my pocket, along with the rest of my stuff. I think that's the biggest reason for the ban.
