Excellent advice. I was also told at my dog training club to vary it a bit. Vary the wait time a bit otherwise your dog will anticipate the break. I also have taught my dog to make eye contact before the break or the treat is given, especially if she is very focused on the treat or toy etc. If she is too focused she is not waiting patiently.

This works! I have a food obsessed Beagle that has to do this at every meal. And she picked up on it really quick. She really enjoys being rewarded when she is released and get to eat! Great tip!

This is an awesome video thank you. I keep trying to explain to someone why I keep perfecting certain behaviors from my dog and it's all rooted in good manners and patience

My dog loves doing this on her walk! It's good recall training too, she does a little excited woof every time we release her 😁

Also mental work is always more efficient for time. One retrieve that is hard to find is equal to probable 5 easy. Short on time-hide the ball.

This is what we do every single day with her meal, crate, wait, then other commands to really test her listening skills before a break is given ❀

My focus has been to separate location associations and increase association with owner. Random stops at unknown spots to the dogs. The dogs have to have some training and obedience, but not much. In the beginning quiet is best. Vet trips should always have something new on the way home.

Thanks Will. Does this also mean I shouldnt let my two puppies play together unless I let them sit and wait for it?
