For vegan women over 40, focusing on weight loss over fat loss can be risky because weight loss alone often leads to muscle loss, which can slow metabolism and weaken bones- key concerns at this age.

Vegans, who may already face challenges getting enough protein, risk further muscle loss if they simply aim to drop pounds rather than improve body composition. By prioritizing fat loss and muscle retention, vegan women can focus on a plant-based diet rich in primary protein sources (like tofu, Seitan, TVP, Fava bean tofu, Pea protein crumbles and tempeh) that help preserve muscle, boost metabolism, and improve strength and energy levels.

Stop chasing weight on the scale. It means NOTHING! Chase Strength, stronger bones by incorporating strength training 2-3x a week to retain/increase muscle mass and improve Overall Body composition for a tighter fitter body.

This is true and happened to me. I lost muscle mass while losing weight. However, I am gaining it all back and more and much more stronger now with weight training and HITT. Thanks for the encouragement. Muscle knows no age 😊
