True, but don't forget the other extreme, self blame. There's a difference between accepting responsibility and hating yourself.
Granted, some would argue that it was the self hate or digust that finally made them grow/change. But, even in that context, you're still able to motivate yourself to make a difference.
So, yes, fix your perspective, take responsibility, but also either have self-compassion or a strong interest in not letting your mistakes continue to define you. Or better yet, both.

Yes!! Hard lesson but it needs to be said. Even cancer Iāve been through it and somehow I feel itās my own fault in ways. I didnāt handle my UTIs properly, got bladder cancer. I have had bad relationships but I didnāt think before jumping into things with different people. Also my own dang fault. So at the end of the day- learn from these things and just do better. & look in the mirror at yourself at how your own choices lead you to where youāre at.

Learning this changed everything for me. I realized that I wont the genetic lottery. I would later learn that I had been surrounded by psychological children who never took personal responsibility for anything. Never sought to have their needs met in an authentic way.
Forever thankful for lockdown 2020.

I just read it yesterday in the subtle art and the example about the blog that Mark gave- that he used to write blogs. A random man replied to him that his child died of some disease, was it his fault? Mark's response was sorry about your loss (he could've responded in some other way but the responsibility on how to react was upon him and he chose to respond politely so to not argue and increase the extent of the argument) and this he did so to show that the death of that man's son was not his fault neither his child's but the responsibility on how to react was his, the Metric on how to react will change the course of his perception towards life.
Agreed with the responsibility, value and metric stuff from the book. Thanks Markā¼ļø

Ive been through a lot, in particular, paying for other peoples mistakes, in fact that phrase may be an understatement for me NO CAP ā š§¢.
Despite all that, my life didnt start becoming better until i stopped allowing the problems ive had do to others mistakes define me. The more you think about it, the more power you give it over you, your mental state and ultimately your future.
Youre not chained to the past, the only thing that truly matters is what you do NOW.
The key is, dont even think about it, just focus on today.
