What gives rise to moral values? Are moral values absolute or relative? Who shapes morality? Is morality a matter of personal perspective? Can our individual experiences affect our moral beliefs? Do people with different levels of power share the same moral standards? How have moral values changed over time? To what extent has Christianity influenced the development of moral values? What distinguishes the values of ancient times from those of Christianity?

"On the Genealogy of Morals", a book written in 1887 by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, stands as the cornerstone in the examination of moral values. The book consists of a preface and three interconnected treatises that elaborate on concepts Nietzsche outlined in his book "Beyond Good and Evil" (1886).

The book explores the origin of morality and analyzes the factors that led to its creation. Nietzsche introduces the concept of Master and Slave Morality, highlighting how ancient values such as power, strength, and competition were once considered virtuous but were later criticized by the oppressed and replaced with qualities like humility, forgiveness, and meekness.

This book is considered Nietzsche's masterpiece and has influenced many authors and philosophers since its publication. It’s one of the most prominent examinations of Christian values.

It would be a genetic fallacy to think morality is false or merely relative because of how it originated. Not saying you're guilty of this.
