Do you remember evil spy doll from Coraline movie?
In Ukraine, we have quite the opposite — the doll that brings only luck and protection.
It is believed that evil can possess a thing only through the eyes, so faceless doll is a totally safe toy. Sometimes a cross pattern would be added for the same purpose.
The doll would become the most powerful mascot in case you don’t cut anything with scissors or poke with needles, — you can only tear fabric and make knots of threads.
Usually, mothers would make those dolls for their children from the fabrics of their own clothes and add as many decorations as they wish.
And today I am making motanka for myself, coating her in warm felt for upcoming cold winter nights.
