When Parachute Oil was doing all this, the central board of excise duty targeted the small 200 ml bottles of Parachute oil and created a completely new rule.
From June 3 2009, packets below 200 ml will be categorized as Hair Oil. Against this, Parachute Oil filed a court case and argued that they cannot be held responsible for how customers use their oil. As for the 200 ml bottles, they are mostly used by students who occasionally cooks.
This was also the reason why the company obtained its FSSAI certificate. The court heard arguments from both sides and ruled in favor of Parachute Oil, the brand of Marico.
