Fibromyalgia real talk…Pottery is so hard on the body! I have lots of chronic pain throughout my body, but my wrists are most often affected by the work I do. There are many stages of the pottery process that are tough for me, including slab rolling. My approach thus far has been: stretch first! Back, wrists, and forearms. Wear wrist braces for added joint support and apply pressure when rolling out the clay with the whole forearms and upper body to distribute the pressure more evenly throughout my body. It’s still a struggle and I often end up with uneven slabs, but I make it work!

Any other artists who are disabled or have chronic pain got any tricks up your sleeve?
