It's almost like when your enemy's stated war aim is genocide, you don't have a ton to lose.

My great grandpa was an officer who led a division in stalingrad. He died tho and the only information I have about him is a picture and my grandma's word.

By saying russians you're diminishing the effort of other Soviet Republics. Red Army was composed of all nations of USSR, not just russians.

The Soviet Union won the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II by launching a counteroffensive against the German offensive in mid-November 1942. The Soviet counteroffensive, codenamed Operation Uranus, targeted the German Sixth Army and its allies, who were already under pressure. The Soviets surrounded the German troops in a 30 mile by 20 mile area, trapping over 250,000 soldiers. The Germans were unable to receive adequate supplies from the air, and the temperature dropped so low that their machines became inoperable. Many soldiers suffered from frostbite and malnutrition. The Germans surrendered on January 31, 1943, against Adolf Hitler's orders. The battle resulted in heavy casualties for both sides, with the Germans losing a total of 500,000 men, including 91,000 taken prisoner. The battle is considered a turning point in World War II.

The reservoir mapped was not there during the War.

The Soviet footholds on the right bank of the Don are shown plainly. This woodland near the river concealed supplies and troops.

The total soviet troops are not more than 500,000 troops, while the German surrender troops are above 300,000 troops, that's why Germans have continued fighting approx 6 months.

Why is the don so much wider in this animation? It looks like it was drawn improperly compared to every other map and animation I've seen before.
