Snake boots and a hook for me always. What we do is risky, so I limit the risk as much as I can. I appreciate all the safety tips and reminders, cause we can get a bit excited sometimes and be complacent in the moment.

I see this often in herping vids. I flipped a nice flat rock once which had a little protected lip. The snakes head was an inch from my finger tip but it didn't have a straight path so I got away with it. ...very barely.
