Thank you! Dying is illegal in my country, since dead people cannot pay taxes, so this is useful to me.

Thank you, lindybeige. I had a stroke last year that left me with swallowing difficulties. I took your advice, and had no problems swallowing. You have saved me a great deal of grief! Good on you!

Another way to prevent choking is to not give bad news to Darth Vader. May the Force be with you.

...and so it was that in 2024 a man known only as Lindybeige made the Heimlich maneuverer obsolete.

I was choking very badly, and as my last action I decided to see what was new on Lindybeige channel, and what are the odds? It was exactly what I needed

The more you know , I guess. I like how this man is steadfast on avoiding clickbait at any cost. The video consist of a problem (a choking hazard), a solution (what to do to avoid it) and demonstration (example of correct drinking) like 10 out of 10 , made my day!

People joke, and it is funny, but there are definitely people who need to see this. Especially young children and very old people

The 1st and best way not to choke is not to have lungs. The 2nd best way is not to breathe.

All jokes aside, this is actually good info. 👍🏻

If you needed an extra fear in your life, here’s one. You can legitimately choke on something and die without being able to do anything about it. Especially if you are by yourself.

I’ve almost done that before while eating drive- thru food and driving on a big trip. It’s very scary and makes you realize how easy a person could actually die from simple thing

This is how I have to drink or eat everything Lloyd. Due to illness/early life damage to my trachea. I even use a metal straw to make sure the intake is regulated and in the correct place in my mouth. Thank you for verifying that I'm not a nutter, so my GP thinks. Sometimes it even gets past that but before you drink, take a deep breath. Cheers!

I'd done that many times but never really understood why I choked.

Interesting as always.

Whats funny is, this also works for drinking strong spirits if you aren't used to it: take a big breath, then take a drink, swallow, and exhale.

Often people start spluttering and coughing (which is very inelegant looking) after a shot of vodka or whatever because they breathe in after swallowing, and the remaining alcohol fumes in their mouth irritates their lungs/airways.
