Hey there, I was in an Abrams in 06, we had a bit more room, one less hatch, and no AC either. In the desert. Still, you had it worse, but it is a soldiers duty to complain. At least my tank had a turbine, not a damn radial aircraft engine, where the oil would pool in to the bottom of the cylinders every night... in the pacific jungle, like my grandpa. The only thing I could ever get out of him about the war was that he hated that engine, loved his grease-gun, and hated mosquitos (ended up with malaria). In his old age, with dementia, I probably got the last good laugh out of him explaining that we were using aircraft engines in tanks again :)

We visited museum in Ottawa and there were two Sherman tanks.One had the top half removed so you could see how cramped inside it was.Dad spent 5 years as a driver in one.He was 19 and 5 foot 3 at the time.

Still no air conditioning in tanks. There's a heater though! Great for winter in Europe and night time in the desert but during the day your still roasting.

I always hear abt the ww2 guys in tanks but I feel like I don’t really hear much from tanker from Vietnam/Coldwar. Love that era of tanks.
