The way she sings this song is as if she wrote it. The emotion in her performance brings out some of the most poignant emotions of tender touched hearts, those who she will never meet, but they have met her. They close their eyes as the tears brim. The memories. The struggles. The passions. The inexpressible that Lauren has been able to express for them. The writers of this amazing song… how do you know us all so well? This slip of a girl has translated the depths human dreams. She’s talented, that’s obvious but it’s more…. It’s hard work. It’s dreaming and stepping out of that world of dreams to the world of our reality. I would love to say thank you, Lauren. This is a love song, I get that. For me the last months of break-neck speed brought so much grief and loss, pain yet joy. I lost my parents. I know where they both are. They left well used tents behind and it came to me, knowing they were not those clay vessels. They each lived over 90years. After my Dad joined my mother I went to my room and cried out to the Lord, “It wasn’t enough. I wanted desperately to go back to their beginnings and live it with them. My Dad’s last words to my baby sister and I were, “My girls…” a few weeks ago when I watched YouTube a young Dad sangr a precious song to his sweet girls. I saw my Dad as a young father loving his girls like that. I heard him singing dozens of Scottish songs to me and giving me a love for music. It’s deep in our souls, isn’t it? I see my mother… my Dad’s love and pride in her as she was amazing til her dying day. But then you sang this song Lauren, and healed my heart a little that day. Thank you.
