It's not really an AFCON if we didn't include the fun facts regarding this underdog story:
1.Every time the Ivorians played in the AFCON Final, the game ended in a goalless and a penalty shootout is required to break the deadlock. It's a true fact:
-In 1992, Ivory Coast won 11-10 against Ghana.
-In 2006, Ivory Coast lost 2-4 to Egypt.
-In 2012, Ivory Coast lost 7-8 to Zambia.
-In 2015, Ivory Coast won 9-8 to Ghana.
2.The Ivorians that won the 2015 tournament was managed by none other than Herve Renard! This version of the Ivorians weren't a big favourites at that time, with Ghana, the opponents of that final, seemingly being the favourites because they had Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu (RIP), who were sensational at that time. The Ivorians, meanwhile, had their captain Didier Drogba being retired after 2014 World Cup and relied a lot on Gervinho.
3.Didier Drogba redeemed his own misery in AFCON with a penalty that won Chelsea the first Champions League triumph at the same year against Bayern Munich.
What about the AFC Asian Cup? There's no good underdog stories that will beat Iraq's 2007 run in Southeast Asia.

This was my first AFCON. I hadn't even heard of Zambia beforehand. It was a great moment to witness even though I was routing for Drogba to win it at the time. This time I think Zambia will beat Ivory Coast again.
