A suit and tie is perfectly fine too(and what I do on formal night), or at least a nice button up and slacks. My wife wears nice church clothes as she doesnât do cocktail dresses(or anything without sleeves, no low cut front, etc.) . I think basically as long as youâre in nice business casual or better, youâre good enough for formal night.

Just like restaurants on land, it's not my business what other people wear as it is not their business what I wear as long as it isn't inappropriate. I LOVE formal night and my family members really go all out. Our pictures look beautiful and that's what I care about.

We do cocktail party attire for formal nights (so semi-formal). We dress up, because we dont have much cause to so so ashore, but tuxedos and ball gowns are impractical if you have to fly to the port and have to deal with luggage resteictions.

Yes we do dress up on formal evenings but just a suit and tie. Not that many people own tuxedo's these days in any event. Not wishing to be sexist but I think, in general, the ladies like to dress to impress more so that the men.

I don't dress up on formal nights. If they mandated it, i wouldn't cruise. I have passed on taking a cruise where more formal wear is highly encouraged, not even mandated.

I love dressing up on formal night. I can stay home in schlepping clothes. I enjoy getting dressed up on vacation. And thatâs why I would prefer to frequent cruise ships who at least enforce proper attire in the dining rooms. Iâm not saying you have to be in a tuxedo at dinner, but at least put on a nice shirt and some slacks and for women put on some decent clothing.
