I've definitely had more of these moments that I can count. Thinking to myself "I should've known better," or "if only I knew then what I know now." But as I say, we can't know what we can't know!
.
We're always just doing our best, with the inner resources we have, in any given moment. And a lot of that comes down to the state of our nervous system, and how much we are in regulation versus dysregulation.
.
This is a brief little practice that I like to use, to send compassion and forgiveness to my younger self. To remind me there's no use in beating myself up about what happened in the past, but that I can take these little moments to send those signals of safety and calm to my body right now.
.
A big part of my healing practice has been simply cutting myself some slack, especially my past self. Cheers to us all finding more ease and spaciousness along this journey. 💕
