It is true that not everyone you like or want does not think you are for them. This is life. The problem becomes when the person doesn't accept that the person does not want them and they can't move on but ends up making a fool or very sad of themselves.

This advice is only partially true, because you don't feel rejected by everyone around you, only by someone you thought is the ONE, and you've been most authentic with, and then get rejected. Hence it is so painful.

True, but only if you’re being your best self. If you’re a slob or not trying to be your personal best (in a way that feels authentic to you, which is a bit different for everyone), then those rejections might be pointing to something real that needs to change.
