I used to be a locksmith these only work at the door/latch is installed incorrectly. Customers used to get so mad when I would card their doors open because they could have just done that and save themselves $50

Those can usually be opened with a magnet. The newer models had a plate installed as a fix. Betting it's an old one. Plenty of them out there.

We used to use a credit card on the Yale locks. Same principal.

For people saying this can be defeated with a magnet, any code/swipe lock made after 2015 for commercial use by well known brands fixed this issue.

I usually carry an old id in my wallet just for this purpose but I do have some of these and as a former locksmith these do work great when I need them.

Bahaha, I removed & changed all the old cheap door locks & deadbolts on my rental & installed a full security wrap around plate along with a floor mounted deadbolt. Boy was that funny as fuck handing my landlord all that junk after having to change everything when they violated the rental agreement
