On the flip side thunderstorms in Singapore (especially common frm the Nov-Jan monsoon season) can delay baggage loading/unloading from aircraft (as ramp agents can no longer work safely outdoors on the apron due to the risk of being struck by lightning). Last year a thunderstorm lasted so long (an entire morning/afternoon I think) that a Sydney-bound flight gave up on waiting out the storm & took off without baggage, to make it on time before Sydney's airport closed for the night. I also prefer avoiding travelling frm SIN to North Asia around the typhoon season as the flight paths will cross the subtropical region where they tend to form, raising the risk of flight cancellations

Yeah, I would tend to disagree. First, not the best statement to say before knowing what the weather prediction is. What did the Farmer's Almanac say? In the US, cities like NY, Chicago and Boston are very well-equipped to deal with snow. DC- not so much, but they get the worst brunt of bad weather in Jan- Feb, then it's better there. There's no way I'm going to gly to Canada just on the chance that American cities might have more snow than they can usually handle. And I'm definitely not going to fly out of the south. They've had crazy bad winter weather in the last couple of years, and they are definitely NOT equipped to deal with bad weather.
