One of the biggest cities in the US generating the most tax payers money and we couldnt get some fancy shit. Barriers looking like a dog gate.

It's a half measure. Train stations in Japan already have barriers with doors that covers from ground to ceiling for decades. The MTA is way behind.

I highly doubt they will help a person being shoved. Now if your falling that's a possibility it might help you or keep you from falling on those tracks. But good luck to the cop or citizen trying to help that person get back up to the platform this wasn't thought out very well

These barriers efficiently corral groups of people together into the openings between them as passengers jockey for door positions while waiting for the train. Much easier to shove entire groups over the side all at once.

Don't take my word for it, check out other videos of these stupid things in use. You will see waiting passengers dividing up into clumps standing in the open areas rather than waiting safely behind them.

It is human nature to behave like children, me first, me first, me first, hence gathering in the openings instead of spreading out along the full length of the platform.

Only a nitwit could think something like this up. Thanks, MTA!
