I was a Math Bio student in Class XII and cracked both engineering and medical entrance (state level) examinations. Ultimately I joined the engineering college - the best in my state - but still not IIT. It did not matter to me but I could see strangers always making this comment - even you couldn’t crack JEE?
When I landed at UIUC, most of my batch mates were from IITs and they never treated me differently. Later, I got into jobs that IITians were taking and ultimately etched a career for myself where I am my own boss.
The point is - IIT or MIT or scholarship - these are not the goals. The goal is to build a dream life and whether it happens with or without IIT - it really does not matter.
I hope you find your success, your version of it - wherever you end up going to.
PS. 95% of my clients who have gone to Harvard, MIT, CMU, UC Berkeley are NOT from IITs.
