I was literally trying to stop a guy friend from doing this last week. Apparently the girl he likes had been having a hard time recently. He wanted to bring her flowers/a care package to help her feel better, but confided in me he wouldn't do that for someone he didn't like romantically and wanted to confess his feelings. Told him if he couldn't do it as JUST a friend, he shouldn't do it at all. He didn't really listen, but people have to make their own mistakes i guess.

Omg this guy that I met brought this up like four times since we’ve met. He keeps saying “pls talk to me if you’re stressed or depressed or angry about anything. I had a guy friend do something similar and he did it several times. I wasn't depressed or anything. He just kept trying to do things without consulting me first like he was supposed to get a pat on the back for his "grand romantic gesture" or something. He wanted to hang out and I said I didn't really feel like going, so what does he do? Shows up to my house uninvited. I just got done with my 10 hour shift at work and it's 1am, so what does he do? Buy food for me and try to get me to hang out. The food was cold when i got there. Another time I was getting off work he ordered food at the drive thru of the restaurant that i told him i was going to without asking me first. He ordered something I didn't even like. He asked me what I was doing for my birthday and I said nothing much, so what does he do? Make a bunch of plans for my birthday without telling me and blowing up my phone trying to get me to be up at 6am(after i had just gotten home from work at 1am and wanted nothing more than to sleep in). I hated most of it. He tried to take me to a hotel after. Needless to say, we don't talk anymore

I’m not sure since a lot of context wasn’t provided on the reason she was made to feel that was towards her guy friend. But personally I would give extra attention to a friend if I know that person is falling into depression, male or female regardless. I don’t want to lose another friend to depression just because I thought maybe time can fix their problems.

People who have never had this experience just don't understand the nuances of how this behavior can make someone feel uncomfortable. To some people, the little parts that she mentioned may seem like nothing and if that's how you feel, good for you. Not everyone has the luxury of feeling that way. Maybe you wouldn't have blocked him and maybe he wasn't being a bad guy but you don't know for sure and sometimes you just gotta protect your peace, especially during moments of mental health instability.

If a guy waits until i have "depression" or im going through a bad time to make a pass then im not dating you. Because that shows me that you are very insecure and that once i am better you will likely turn into an a really mean person who accuses me of seeing other guys etc because you feel like im better than you and will become paranoid and emotionally abusive as a result. thats what my brain thinks will happen and ive seen it multiple times happen to others so hell no.
