I love circular tee pads. But Birds Nest in Denver has the best tee pads. They taper from wide at the back end to narrow at the front end. This allows angled runups, but forces you to throw from the intended spot. There is also a line painted on the front, and an additional area of concrete past the line to catch the player's follow through. The player throws from behind the line.

I agree; have said this for years. The only downside I see is that it takes more work and materials to make, but a small price for a much better tee pad.

They’re really nice. Fountain Hills uses them. Also hole 1 at Morley Field has a fan shaped pad which is probably my favorite.

My only problem I run into is some parks will go circular but smaller, if it’s a standard tee pad size they are the best

They should be the standard, not exception.

This is sweet. Should be the way forward in the progression of the game.

Expensive to install so cost prohibitive for privately owned courses in many cases. If the teepad were level with the surrounding ground in all cases, the shape of the teepad would make no difference. This, I believe, is what the focus should be on

Any cement teepad is a good one

Circle is fine if there are multiple pin positions, but WHY - after spending the 50% more on concrete - put a teesign directly in the height of flight path and less than 50cm from the tee pad? Why?

As long as they are long enough, the areas outside of pads are taken care, they have traction, and dont fill with water I'm happy. I've been to over 200 courses and bad tee pads is one of the the worst things to find/deal with. My pet peeve is when you have that little step up to the pad especially on full 400+ shots, the longer the shot the longer the tee/level run up should be.
