i stopped doing regular deadlifts, i just do RDL, and do 5 sets of 10-12 reps. This way im doing a light enough weight where im not scared of hurting my hamstrings and also get a decent workout on my lowerback. I try to do it really slowly and do it beside a mirror to keep the back on point. I workout at home so this is what is best for me

I don't agree on the Rom part, because once you go below your knees, if you keep going lower you'll start using the lowback, which isn't wrong if you wanna train that too tho

Never go to absolute failure on deadlifts, only form failure. I know too many people who messed up their spines deadlifting
