100% disagree, especially since Covid. As a dog walker, I had 3 Goldens in my pack and not one of them were intelligent or well trained. Now I would say 95% of that was the owners coddling them, but I have seen the breed go downhill in intelligence andtrainability in the last 5 years and I would definitely pick a Lab over a Golden any day, especially a black Lab.

Golden fur is a main reason why I prefer them over Labs. Their fur is so soft making their cuddle factor superior over the Lab’s. BTW, about these cream colored Goldens (developed in the UK I believe)… I loved them at first. And they are very pretty. But am over it and prefer the gold ‘uns now.

What’s the difference in their hair? Just the length? My lab sheds a ton.

It has to do with their diet. If you feed them raw meat with organs included, your dog, or cat will NOT shed.

Technically yeah, Golden Retrievers so have a significant amount of fur. But thats nothing comparwd to an Afghan Hound. I have an Afghan Hound and a Golden Retriever. I swear its like a freaking hair salon in my room with this afghan hound

I actually choose the golden retriever over the Labrador. The lab sheds just as much, but the labs coat is too short and often floats in the air instead of falling to the ground (due to the weight, like the goldies), so I would be breathing it in more often. Also, on the couch, the short coat is like needles and it‘s close to impossible to vacuum clean it. Goldies are quite easy to groom with the right tools. Half an hour max/week.

My working bred golden has a shorter, deep reddish gold coat that actually doesn't shed as much as the lighter colored, longer coated show bred goldens do. Its much much easier to manage. My big red lab though, would shed like crazy!

I spin it - dog fur I mean! Goldies give up their fur in handfuls! I have a sprollie - she likes to spread her fur over the carpet but hates being groomed. 😅

Mom was a well known Golden Retriever breeder & Persian cats... The hair wasn't an issue...my previous Rottweiler was worst, she shed more than 4 Golden Retrievers & 6 Persians it was ridiculous.
Honestly, my Goldens didn't shed much, I have had almost a dozen of Moms pedigree.
