🗽 I was already working in US for 3 years when I joined NYU for my MBA.

1️⃣ MBA in US is expensive but if you do it from a good university, you can recover it fast

I had savings from my job but paying $23K per semester is not an easy feat. I did not want to spend all my savings, so I was very focused on my jobhunt.

I figured that if I got a decent $100K job (which was expected) after graduation, I can recover all my expenses in 2-3 years.

My focused jobhunt helped because I manage to get a full-time job offer from a well funded startup after my 1st year itself. So, I DROPPED OUT and joined this job. Instead of paying NYU to learn, I was now getting paid by this startup to learn. This is how I saved another year of tuition (~50K dollars) and earned back whatever I had spent in my 1st year.

2️⃣ You don't get scholarships in MBA

Although I had managed full funding for my MS in CS (see my previous reel), MBA programs dont give such funding.

I managed to find a TAship (teaching assistants) which means you assist a Professor in teaching and grading their courses. But unlike UIUC, NYU does not give tuition waiver to TAs. So, I still had to pay full tuition. I earned $10-12 per hour which somewhat helped with my living expenses.

3️⃣ Major difference between research vs professional courses

Dont expect funding if you are going for programs like MBA, MIM, MEM, MFE etc which are known as professional courses. Scholarships are easiest for research courses like MS with thesis, or PhD.

Keep this in mind before you decide whether to apply to US or not.
