You can go completely closed loop by also connecting a jumper line (purged with CO2) between the gas valves. To make sure the siphon starts (in case the beer line was also purged with CO2 instead of beer), the pressure of the receiving flask should be slightly lower before connecting the jumper line between the gas valves. During transfer the receiving flask also should be lower, otherwise the transfer might stall.
It would have the advantage the transfer could be happening unattended because a spill is impossible in a closed setup.
Note, this would be really slow, but it saves a little on CO2

I tend to connect another sanitized tube on the in post that goes to a star san solution. Don't have to worry about the PRV letting air in.
