The mental aspect is definitely overlooked. I find I have to put in a lot of effort to maintain or barely lose weight at this point. I will be in a bad mood over trying to stay under my daily calories and exercise enough. Chasing a certain body aesthetic has lead to health problems for me before (loss in bone density, overuse injuries, hair loss, faintness). Granted, I am a female. But I think it's always worth people questioning and readjusting their goals to be less "extreme" if it is making them miserable. The only time I've been able to look how I want in terms of body composition (e.g. abs) I was pretty unwell.
