RIP Mike Connors

Great show that I remember as a little kid. Best theme song too. Everything about that show was cool as shit. Even his car.

Mannix opening credits was also one of the first uses on TV of the split-screen process, which was becoming fashionable in motion pictures. Terrific credits, theme, show and star! Sixties Forever!!!

Part of why I love this show -- it's one I can clearly remember watching with my dad because he enjoyed it.

My German immigrant father also was an excellent TV repairman from 1949-1987, and as time passes I'm starting to think of some of these shows as being among the ones my dad fixed those TVs for.

Mannix takes me to my childhood. In Mexico City we watched him about 9 o'clock I can't remember the day; I just remember that It was the year of 1969. This was many years ago, I was only 6, but I remember It was one of my favorite Tv program.

StuklnBuf ....... you took me there!!!! I forgot
about those commercials. I think I am among the last of that generation who remembers when you could advertise smokes on TV. Man, you hit it right on the head!!!

Me and my brother used to play Mannix in 72" when we were around 10 years old . And he would always
do the theme song while we were playing , Da dunt , da dunt ,,,,, Da dunt , da dunt . Can't believe it's been 50 years.

Another great theme and a nice trip down memory lane. My gram loved this show and I sometimes watched it with her on Saturday nights. I think the opening montage was inspired by the original "Thomas Crown Affair" split screen effects... thanks for posting!

Thanks FylthyBeest!

I was as much a car nut as a great fan of Mannix & The Rockford Files. I also have the first three seasons of Mannix on DVD.

FYI: Mannix also drove several company cars from "Intertect" during the first season. They were mostly Ford Galaxie sedans or occasionally his boss Lew Wickersham's Lincoln Contenental, the 1960's version with the "suicide" doors.

Also, I have seen the George Barris Toronado, its at a museum near Nashville Tennessee.

Yeah. Buy the first season Mannix DVD set. It's the Intertech season, without Peggy but moar computers! Plenty of special features, too.

The Toronado wasn't simply modified. It was a George Barris custom conversion. As a matter of fact, it was sold as 1/32" scale models for assembly. Saturnday, I'm impressed with your knowledge respect for the show.

This was my show on Sundays!!!! Loved this show and he sure did get the stew beat outta him, but I admired his never quit attitude. I saw in USA Today that there was issues with putting more shows on DVD. I thought I read where they said the company who owns the rights didn't want to release the show.

You're taking me waaaaaaaaaaay back. I haven't heard about Janitor in a Drum since the 70s. I don't think they make that anymore.
