Swings and water are my best!

I think this is the wrong way around. Personally I feel dissassociated with my body, doing something that engages my body, reconnects my mind and body and makes some tasks easier (stimming while on a Zoom call). This is what happens when neurotypical people try to explain an experience they absolutely cannot grasp. We need more neurodivergent voices IMHO, was really glad to see the comments here which seem to agree with me.

I tried EMDR therapy with an experienced therapist who I trust, and it went terribly.

I WOULD NOT say I'm grounded in my body AT ALL. Maybe that's an important component necessary for EMDR.
