I grew up here and another amazing fact is that King Henry VIII had his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled at the Priory Church in the middle of the town. I went to what was Priory Middle School in the 90’s and this was an important part of the history lessons we had, and we also had many archaeological digs on our school field which had been part of the former monastery which was demolished after the dissolution of them in 1540. It’s one of the things that led to my love of history, cemented by my tutor at Manshead School in the late 90’s.

It's truly amazing how much of her history is remembered across the country. Especially since she is not talked about much in British history lessons. Great topic Alice! ❤from 🇨

Hello Alice, as a resident of New England, we have both Woburn and Dunstable as our adjacent towns. So cool to see the mother villages. Thanks for sharing

What a grand story! So much history in that one small surrounding area and the Plaque of the wall with the Family Crest Marks and words is priceless!

I quite like the name Eleanor. I don’t know why. If I had a child I would call her Eleanor. It’s a beautiful name..

I can't wait to read your book because I've taken an active interest in Eleanor of Castile having recently read Sara Cockerill's biography on Eleanor titled Eleanor of Castile: The Shadow Queen. Now I'm excited to learn more about the story of the Eleanor crosses

What if 'Dunstable' rhymed with 'unstable'?
