Also note that the locals usually eat the food where it is made. Rather than carry it around in a plastic container for a couple hours they usually eat it hot at a table right beside the vendor who cooked it.

Yup. People are people. That local street cafe isnāt going to be full of locals if they make the locals sick fixing their favorite dishes

I found the airline food did more to mess up my gut than any food from a street stall.

This totally makes sense... eating like a local. Plus, if you're traveling wouldn't you want to try some of the local cuisine anyway? I mean that's my goal when I travel around (even within the US) to try different foods I can't get back at home... and if you're going to a foreign country that's even more important in my opinion, as it's part of the experience.
