For almost two years, the UK Government used an "unprecedented" super-injunction to hide a catastrophic Ministry of Defence data breach that affected thousands of Afghans.
This secret court order, the first of its kind used by the government against the press, concealed an Β£850 MILLION rescue operation from all public and Parliamentary oversight. A High Court judge said it created a "scrutiny vacuum" that shut down the ordinary mechanisms of democracy.
The scariest part? The government has admitted there could be other secret injunctions that aren't on any official record.
