The mixture of old school VFX and practical effects is why it works so well!

If they did it today, the whole thing would be CGI except him. And his clothes would still be CGI

I love that these guys are still in awe of how some things are pulled off onscreen. Just like me.

The Borrowers, underrated film thats very well done.

The stuff that takes place in the walls is next level

It’s amazing when people use practical effects and visual effects together instead of just having every single object in the show be cg

I just realized the 90s had so many movies about tiny people or people who were shrunken down. And i miss it. I also feel like toy soldiers should get an honorable mention in that catagory.

The Borrowers was SO fun to watch as a kid, and even more fun now that I can examine and appreciate those effects 🙌

They used this technology in the Indian and the cupboard as well. Some captivating films for sure.

The Borrowers is one of my all-time childhood movies! Thanks for finally looking at it, and I've always been blown away by this shot.

They actually planned stuff out, gave animators a living wage, and a reasonable timetable. So sad where we’ve gone.

Watching someone who very obviously knows their trade be amazed with childlike wonder is one of my favorite things in life.

Its implementing creativity in shots like this that really add the "magic" in "movie magic"

I adore practical effects and I watched Alien for the first time last night. Everything down to the framing was astounding.
I haven't seen a movie with that much passion in a long time.

Nobody mentioned that the motion control even tracked the shifting focal point which is incredible

God I love Wren, such unbridled excitement about it, and then still nails how it was done lol

The movie is called “The Borrowers”. I remember here in England in 1998, when we made the switch from VHS to DVD and this was the very first movie we seen on DVD because it came with our new DVD player. We were speechless at the clarity, quality and clean crisp non blurry lines back then. I could not understand how they could fit 10 tracks on 1 CD, but can fit a whole damn movie in a CD. Obviously I know now that’s because DVDs have smaller pits closer together than on a CD so you can fit way more information on them.
