When fishing or anywhere sandy, the marshmallow tip works best for me. Plus, I have a telescoping cane with an entirely different tip, for formal events.

(Me blind) If i had to use it all the time i would use the one with a roller ball or roller marshmallow but my vision allows me to see a little so usually i don't use a cane. Tho it is good to keep it around so i have a pencil tip one 'couse it helps people to understand that i cannot see wery well so they don't walk straight to me expecting me to move or when crossing the road they can get that i cannot see the cars coming and something something... but the pencil one can get stuck too easily, one time it got stuck among the trash bags. And the mud, that is the biggest enemy!

I am legally blind with limited vision and I use a white cane with a roller ball cane tip,It works in the rain,but I walk on the sidewalk when I go on the buses,train and to the malls and events in my country and city.My white cane roller ball cane tip is hard to use when I have to go on the grass and it is ok on the dirt
