Check out the latest news: A company in Kent, ironically named 'Asbestos Gone,' has been fined £30,000, with its director fined £5,000, for unsafe asbestos removal practices at two separate sites.

DOV Services Ltd, operating under the Asbestos Gone name, was found to have removed loose fill asbestos insulation during renovations in Redhill in April 2021 without the HSE license. Additionally, between March 30 and April 7, 2021, the company removed asbestos cement sheets from a school gymnasium in Essex without following a safe removal protocol, resulting in asbestos debris scattered across the premises.

The poor workmanship forced the school to hire a licensed asbestos contractor for an environmental clean-up.

At Southwark Crown Court, DOV Services Ltd pleaded guilty to breaching Health and Safety regulations and was fined £30,000, with additional costs. Director David Ryce also pleaded guilty and was fined £5,000, plus costs.

HSE inspector Stephanie Hickford-Smith expressed concern, stating, "It's a sad irony that a company trading under the name of Asbestos Gone could make such a shambles of safely removing such a dangerous substance."
