The audience isn't less careless about human life than "the sleeping beauty" with his self made crucifixion, which if he has ever studied more profoundly, would had realised how the truth about religions has been pseudo idealised. These times were so primitive in so many ways that I am wondering how people can go sleepwalking throughout their entire cycling existence and even getting so proud around their primitive cultural inheritance with so much enthusiasm. I am still wondering how humans are still keeping up with this dullness of theirs. Getting thrilled by huge stone constructions while the majority of all these big stuff is nothing but a reflection of human megalomania, grandiosity affiliations thus enhancing humans self zoom - in microscopic sensation. Humans are such a beautifully crafted creatures amongst such a perfectly designed Earth plane interior and should learn to love and respect life as GOD 👽 has thought it. But they are such a pain in the arse of MOTHER NATURE. What else should be people asking for? 🤔

“A Christian Martyr,” painted by Ernest Slingeneyer in 1860.
My thoughts about this interesting painting 👇
In most paintings of Christians in the Colosseum, the martyrs are depicted as facing death bravely, but this painting seems to take things to a whole new level. It’s impressive to have enough faith to face death with courage- it’s another thing entirely to be so unbothered by your oncoming execution that you fall asleep while waiting for it. If the subject matter wasn’t so dark, it would be quite funny. Also, an interesting detail I didn’t mention in the short: it appears his crucifix was created himself with spare sticks. It makes me think that perhaps when he was taken into captivity he wasn’t allowed a crucifix but he found a way to make one with the materials he could find.
A bit more about the artist, Ernest Slingeneyer:
Ernest Slingeneyer (1820–1894) was a Belgian painter known for his large-scale historical and allegorical works. A leading figure of Belgian Romanticism, he specialized in dramatic battle scenes, patriotic subjects, and mythological themes, often marked by grandeur and theatricality. Slingeneyer enjoyed official recognition, becoming a professor at the Brussels Academy and later a senator, using his art to promote national identity and cultural pride.
Thanks for learning about this interesting artwork with me ❤
