Unless you deal with a significant historical coins like archaeological findings to preserve its data and informations, do as you please for your own personal collection. Patina or shiny pristine condition is up to your taste. Just don't change the original engraving and finish.

No need for fancy equipment or polishing Wheels. Use use Tapatío hot sauce on it for 30 minutes. It will look mint after you wipe it off.

Stop! I'm a coin collector, and that is going to make collectors mad because it will stop the coins from getting a grade.

I do it some coins not all cuz some have that really nice patina that u can only get with age. Some get dirty and corroded that cleaning and polishing give me a few minutes of fun and they look better. I can care less if anyone thinks they lose value. I collect because i like it not cuz im trying to get rich.
