Short peek into the motor room of a duplex group of lifts installed by Aufzüge+Service AG in the 90s. The lifts are situated in a shopping center with apartments above. They run on Aufzüge+Service AG's own controller with the group dispatcher being in the left cabinet. The lifts use Thyssen W191 gearboxes with Loher motors and RST ARC phase-fired controllers as drives. These produce an absolutely awesome sound!
The lifts serve 5 and 6 floors (lift 2 does not serve the top floor), have a capacity of 1600kg / 21 persons and a speed of 1m/s in 2:1 configuration. The taller of the two lifts has 16.3m of travel.

What type of drives are these? Are they phase angle based like a soft starter or are they some sort of thyristor based vfd? (I only have basic knowledge about power electronics so sorry if I got something wrong)
